Bob McTeer, Ph.D., is Commerce Street Capital's senior economic advisor. As a recognized expert and speaker on the topics of macroeconomic issues, including monetary and fiscal policy, McTeer is a regular CNBC contributor and often writes for the Wall Street Journal, Forbes.com and other national publications. His economics blog is highly rated and frequently cited.

In addition, McTeer is a distinguished fellow at the National Center for Policy Analysis (NCPA) and testifies before Congress on important national issues. He serves on the board of directors of Westwood Holdings Group and Beal Bank in Dallas. He has also served on the board of overseers of the University of Georgia's Terry College of Business, where he was named Distinguished Alumnus in 1991. Prior to joining the NCPA, McTeer was chancellor of the Texas A&M University System for two years. He had a 36-year career with the Federal Reserve, including serving as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas for 14 years and as a member of the Federal Open Market Committee.

McTeer is a past president of the Association of Private Enterprise Education, a national association of free enterprise scholars and others who advocate market solutions to public policy problems, and a former board member of the National Council on Economic Education. In 2004 he was featured as a Texas Legend in Business by the Texas Cable News Network.

McTeer earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and a doctorate in economics from the University of Georgia. He holds an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Austin College.
