Roy J. Salley is a Managing Director in the Financial Institution Investment Banking Group, Capital Markets Division, of Commerce Street Capital, LLC. Mr. Salley is involved with mergers and acquisitions, raising capital, growth strategy and earnings enhancement, as well as turnarounds of troubled financial institutions.
Mr. Salley joined Commerce Street in June, 2010 following 30 years of banking experience that encompasses a wide range of banking operations. Prior to Commerce Street, he served as Chairman and CEO of Sovereign Bank in Dallas, a de novo commercial bank he organized and opened in 2004. Under his direction, Sovereign raised more than $60 million in initial capital and two secondary offerings.
In 1998, Mr. Salley formed First Mercantile Bank, N.A., in Dallas, raising $28 million in two offerings. In 2001, First Mercantile Bank acquired Town Bank, and the year following, Colonial Bank of Montgomery, Alabama (now BB&T) acquired First Mercantile. Salley remained as CEO of Colonial Bank’s Texas operations, growing total assets and the number of locations.
Mr. Salley has held previous positions with United Texas Bank in Dallas, Interstate National Bank, DES Corp., Centre National Bank, and Hi Plains Savings and Loan Association.
He received a BBA degree from Texas A&M University and holds multiple securities licenses.
