Carla J. Brooks
Carla J. Brooks is a Managing Director on the Private Equity team of Commerce Street Investment Management. Ms. Brooks has been with Commerce Street since its inception.
Having built a successful career over the last 30 years in bank regulation and oversight, Ms. Brooks has played an integral role in developing Commerce Street’s fund management business. She serves as a member of the Investment Committees for the Private Equity and the Credit Opportunity funds. Ms. Brooks held a similar position with its predecessor company, SAMCO Capital Markets, Inc., which she joined in 2002. Her previous positions were with California Federal Bank, FSB, where she was First Vice President of Corporate Acquisitions in the Office of the Chairman; and KPMG, working in both the Regulatory Advisory and the Corporate Recovery Practices. Ms. Brooks spent seven years with the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas where she was the manager of applications processing in the supervision and regulation department.
Ms. Brooks was ranked on American Banker’s annual 25 Most Powerful Women in Finance list from 2008 to 2010. In 2009, she was selected as an honoree for the Dallas Business Journal’s Women in Business Awards as one of the region’s most outstanding women business leaders.
Ms. Brooks earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics from Coe College in Iowa and has a Master of Science degree in finance from the University of Texas at Dallas. She is a licensed Certified Insolvency and Reorganization Accountant.
Ms. Brooks is a registered representative and has passed the FINRA Series 7, 24, 79, and 66 examinations.

Thomas J. Lykos, Jr.
Thomas J. Lykos, Jr. is a Managing Director on the Private Equity team of Commerce Street Investment Management. He is primarily involved in evaluating investment strategies for the team.
Mr. Lykos joined the firm in February, 2009 with over 30 years of experience involving the reorganization and resolution processes in the financial services industry. Previously, Mr. Lykos was a Managing Director at Rauscher Pierce Refsnes where he was responsible for developing and implementing resolution strategies for failed or failing financial institutions. He also was the Executive Director of FSLIC (The Southwest Plan) participating in its creation. Prior to his service with FSLIC, he was Counsel to the Senate Banking Committee and the House Energy & Commerce Committee. He began his legal career as an attorney in the Enforcement Division of the Securities and Exchange Commission and as an Associate with Bracewell & Patterson.
Mr. Lykos has a BA in History and Economics from Harvard College where he graduated Cum Laude and he received a JD from The University of Texas, Austin. He is a member of the District of Columbia and Texas Bar Associations.

Alex Brown is a Senior Analyst for the Corporate Investment Banking team and the Private Equity team of Commerce Street Capital and Commerce Street Investment Management. Mr. Brown has been with the firm since June 2015 and specializes in valuation of businesses, banks, financial securities and investment portfolios for the firm's clients and private equity funds. Mr. Brown provides analytical support on sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions, fairness opinions, capital raises, and distressed bank and asset management advisory. Mr. Brown is responsible for the development of projection and merger models, pro forma and valuation analysis, and assisting in running deal processes. He is also involved in the preparation of offering memoranda and management/board presentations.
Mr. Brown graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi, with majors in Managerial Finance and Bank Finance. He was a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College and achieved membership into Phi Kappa Phi, Beta Gamma Sigma, and was selected as “Who’s Who Among Students In American Universities and Colleges.” He also served as president of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and was elected as the Senior Class Treasurer.
